Ohio State’s spring football practices ended last Saturday with the conclusion of their spring game, and while you would think that would free up some time for the coaching staff, that time is now being occupied by recruiting with the end of the in-person dead period quickly approaching.
Ryan Day and company are gearing up for a huge month of June. Whether it’s in the 2022 class or even 2023 and beyond, the Buckeyes and their staff are showing little to no down time at all as visits are about to get underway in just over a months time. It’s going to be a busy summer making up for a year without visits, but this staff is proven to be one of the very best at recruiting and that should provide plenty of excitement that these visits will also in turn lead to big time additions to their recruiting classes.
Buckeyes set to host top 2023 prospects this June
Ohio State has seemingly been in contact with every top player in the country in regards to scheduling visits to Columbus now that they’re able to actually meet with these players and host them on campus. The entire month of June is loaded with top caliber visitors slated to check out the Buckeyes, and while the list of players having plans set in place is already impressive, it continues to grow with each passing day with new elite talents heading to campus during the month of June.
On Wednesday, that same list just referenced saw a boost in star power when the nation’s top running back in the 2023 class, Richard Young, announced via Twitter that his Ohio State visit date is now set in place. Slated to be in Columbus June 9-11, this unofficial visit will be an incredible opportunity for position coach Tony Alford to continue laying the groundwork for Young and how he fits into the Buckeyes’ plans. Not only is Alford a great recruiter and developer of his position, but he dominates recruiting in Florida and Young will clearly be one of his key guys in the 2023 class.
In addition to being the top running back in the class per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Young is also considered as the fifth-best player in Florida and the No. 18 player nationally, obviously deserving of his five-star grade. With nearly 40 offers to his name it’s pretty easy to see why this coveted back will be one of the prized guests in attendance, and a target the Buckeyes will roll out the red carpet for when he arrives for his multiple-day stay.
I will be at The Ohio State University June 9-11 for an unofficial visit !!! #GoBucks @CoachTonyAlford

Sticking in the class of 2023 and with another Florida native, the Buckeyes also got word on Wednesday from Treyaun Webb that he too will be heading to Columbus for an early June unofficial visit as he has plans to arrive on the 8th and stay through the 9th. Not a new name to most Buckeye fans, Webb is a very highly touted athlete who spends most of his time running the rock as nation’s third-ranked athlete. In addition, Webb is also ranked as the seventh-best player in Florida for his class and the No. 234 player nationally.
The one-time Georgia commit renounced that decision early this year in January, and while the Bulldogs certainly are still in the thick of it with the rest of the SEC powers vying for Webb’s services, the Buckeyes have to love their chances considering this is yet another player from Jacksonville’s Trinity Christian Academy. A program who has produced some incredible players, Ohio State has been able to land a slew of recruits over the last several years and even in their current 2022 class with Jaheim Singletary, their highest-ranked defensive commit. With Randy Wade in the area and in the ears of these young men as well, the Buckeyes should feel good with where they’re at.
I Will Be In Columbus Ohio June 8th And The 9th For An Unofficial Visit ❤️ #GoBuckeyes @CoachTonyAlford @marcus_2334 @ryandaytime

Payton Kirkland, a four-star offensive tackle, made it known that his stay will be during June 22-23. Already at 6-foot-5, 330 pounds as a high school sophomore, Kirkland is every bit of what you’d expect a future tackle to be.
