It was another successful night for the Buckeyes, and specifically Justin Fields. Being taken in the first round by the Chicago Bears, this is Ohio State’s second quarterback to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in just the last couple of years, with the other being Dwayne Haskins in 2019. Though Haskins hasn’t panned out thus far, this is still proof that the quarterback position in Columbus has truly changed from the previous. The Buckeyes are pumping out elite talent now at every position, and that will do nothing but help their recruiting efforts moving forward.
Last night may not have been the typical quantity Ohio State’s used to in terms of players being selected in the first round, but the rest of this weekend is sure to be full of Buckeyes seeing their names picked. Again, the ability to boast this excellent track record in front of impressionable recruiting targets is truly second to none. Having the most guys of any program to be selected in the first round is as impressive as it gets, and that will only continue with the way this program is bringing in top players each year. The cycle of success seems to have no end in sight. It’s a great time to be a Buckeye fan.

Ohio State’s creative media team is off the charts
One of the underrated aspects of Ohio State’s recruiting efforts is its creative media team. From the graphics for the Buckeyes’ top targets to their content in general, the social media presence is tremendous. It may not be a major aspect on the ending result for why a prospect commits to a given program, but the players love to post the graphics from the various schools they’re considering, and Ohio State does a great job at getting their guys excited about what they’re given.
In relation to the NFL Draft, the Buckeyes dished out some sweet new graphics showing what certain players could see in the future after their Ohio State careers. It was a hit obviously, after multiple guys tweeted the graphic showing the love from the Buckeyes and their media team.
The first being Christen Miller, a 2022 four-star defensive tackle target. A Georgia native, Miller is certainly not a new name to Buckeye fans, as he has long been a player the program has had its eyes on. Ranked as the ninth-best defensive tackle in the class, Miller is also the 118th best player in the country per the 247Sports Composite rankings. After renouncing his original plans to commit earlier this April, the Buckeyes are hoping they can get some momentum here and pull him out of SEC country.

In addition to Miller, another Buckeye target on the defensive side of the ball in the 2022 class took to his Twitter account to show the latest graphic Ohio State sent his way. Four-star cornerback Ryan Turner seemed to love his face on the edit, and while he continues to be a name that is becoming mentioned more and more, the Buckeyes surely seem to like Turner enough to want him as part of their 2022 class.
Ohio State does already have two highly ranked corners in the fold for the current cycle, but one more would definitely provide some comfortable depth moving forward. Though Turner’s ranking of being the 34th-best cornerback in the class is not typically as high as what Buckeye fans are used to seeing, the staff is very impressed with his tape and abilities. Time will tell if this is a recruitment the Buckeyes are really all in for, but right now Turner seems to be one of the few remaining guys in the running for the one or two remaining cornerback spots.

Hardwood Bucks dish out another new 2022 offer
Late Wednesday night, a second basketball offer came to attention when class of 2022 five-star Jalen Washington made it public the Buckeyes were the latest school to enter his recruitment. The Gary, Indiana native is one of the premier players in the not just the Midwest, but the entire country as well, checking in as the fourth-best power forward in the class as well as the 20th-best player nationally per the 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-9, 210 pounds, it’s not hard to see why the combination of his athleticism and size have gone hand in hand with his five-star grade.
Incredibly blessed to receive an offer from The Ohio State University! Big thanks to coach @ChrisHoltmann, coach @JakeDiebler, and the rest of the OSU staff for the amazing opportunity! @GWSBoysBball pic.twitter.com/7TteIGODQF

Currently, Washington has double digit offers from the likes of Indiana, Michigan State, Alabama, Illinois and a host of others now including Ohio State. After adding major offers in just the past month, it’s telling that Washington and his services will continue to see a bit of an increase in terms of recruiting, but that’s the byproduct of being one of the top 20 players in the nation.
There may not be a clear frontrunner for his commitment yet, but Michigan State has certainly been a program closely linked to Washington for a bit now. If Chris Holtmann and his crew are going to pull this player away from the other Big Ten powers, as well as other national names, they’ll need to make up some groundwork. Fortunately, Holtmann and his staff have been pretty successful on the recruiting trail. Here’s to hoping they can reel in another five-star target.
