Welcome back! On this week’s edition of Play Like a Girl, Kelsey and Meredith talk the just-announced HBCU Combine, scheduled to open January 2022 in conjunction with the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Despite a history of great players coming out of HBCUs (Jerry Rice, Michael Strahan and Walter Payton, to name a few), no players were drafted from HBCUs in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The pair also talk about Nina King’s promotion to athletic director at Duke — literally, SUCH a great hire. King is just the third Black woman to lead a Power Five athletic department, and is the first woman to be named AD at Duke.
