Not long after picking up a verbal pledge from three-star class of 2022 defensive back Ryan Turner, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes dealt out a scholarship to one of the most sought after offensive line prospects the class of 2023 has to offer. Announcing his chance to call Columbus his future home via his Twitter page on Wednesday, four-star tackle Samson Okunlola received his opportunity to rock the Scarlet and Gray from the Buckeyes big boss man himself.

“Ryan Day offered me and he just talked about how he seen the film from the Ohio [Under Armor] camp and how he liked it. He also talked about doing a zoom call later too.” The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Thayer Academy (MA) product told Land-Grant Holy Land soon after announcing his offer from Day and the Buckeyes.
“I was excited to get the offer. Ohio State is a good school and they have had good offensive linemen come out of there. They have a good coaching staff and they also have good academics.” He added on his chance to attend the Ohio State University.
Nearly two years away from ending his recruitment and signing with a college program, Okunlola, the No. 7 offensive tackle, and 78th overall prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite, is starting to put together a more than solid list of potential landing spots. Holding nearly 30 total offers from programs across the country, Ohio State joins the likes of Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, USC, and West Virginia as a few of the many schools trying to add Samson’s talents.
Yet to plan out exactly what his summer will look like, Okunlola might not know what campuses he’ll be on in the coming months, but he’s starting to realize what he wants on and off of the football field before he announces his college commitment.
“I don’t have any visits planned. I’m still figuring that out right now. I’m just taking my recruitment process slow. I’m looking for a school that has a good community where everyone is working. Also a school where I can build myself as a athlete and as a student. Lastly a school that has good academics.”
